Carboxy Therapie Information

Carboxy Therapy - Gas into the skin?

Gas in the skin? And then CO2 too?

Yes, exactly! Carboxytherapy is a revolutionary method in the fight against wrinkles and skin aging. It is a minimally invasive procedure in aesthetic medicine where CO2 is injected into the skin or subcutaneous tissue. It utilizes the body's natural response to CO2. The body immediately reacts to restore balance by transporting CO2 away and supplying oxygen. This causes blood vessels to dilate and stimulates circulation. In addition to oxygen, growth factors and other important blood components are transported to the treated areas. Regular stimulation of CO2 excess in the tissue during carboxytherapy can encourage the formation of fine blood vessels, leading to long-term anti-aging effects by stimulating the body's natural supply to the desired area.

Isn't that dangerous?

This is a frequently asked question that can be answered clearly and reliably. No, carboxytherapy is not dangerous. The swelling caused by the CO2 injection subsides immediately after the treatment. Typically, the swelling is significantly reduced after 15 minutes and disappears completely after 30 minutes at the latest. In rare cases, small swellings may remain, but they are not detrimental to the therapy and resolve within a few days. Since the injection is administered with a small 4mm needle directly into the skin (intradermally), it can be assumed that the CO2 and the resulting pressure act precisely at the desired site of action.

There is a group of people for whom we do not recommend carboxytherapy. This includes individuals with disorders of the O2/CO2 balance, such as bronchial asthma or COPD. We also advise against CO2 injections during pregnancy.

Otherwise, carboxytherapy is straightforward and easily integrated into daily life.

How often should I repeat carboxytherapy?

The recommendations for frequency vary depending on the treatment area and desired effect. The eye area is a good example. There are, on the one hand, dark circles and, on the other, fine lines at the outer corner of the eye. Lightening of dark circles often occurs after about four treatments. Lines are a bit more stubborn. Here, the desired effect appears after about 8-10 treatments. However, progress and effect can be observed over the course of the sessions, and if the effect appears early, the plan can be adjusted.

When can I repeat carboxytherapy?

As mentioned earlier, carboxytherapy can be repeated frequently and should be repeated in certain cases to promote the long-term formation of small blood vessels that nourish the skin.

It is recommended to maintain a two-week interval between sessions to give the body, or more precisely the treated area, enough time to react and regenerate.

Can carboxytherapy be used in other areas?

Indeed, CO2 can be used not only to stimulate collagen production and microcirculation in the eye area but also in other facial areas. In addition to "crow's feet" (periorbital wrinkles), laugh lines or forehead lines can also be treated. Furthermore, the double chin and the associated cheek contour offer additional potential areas. By increasing the injection depth, fat-reducing processes can also be activated, which opens up further possibilities in some other body parts. For example, stimulating lipolysis and lymph flow can be used for lipedema and cellulite.

What should I consider after the CO2 treatment?

Due to the rapid absorption of CO2 by the tissue, you can resume your daily activities shortly after the treatment. However, you should avoid strong sunlight or tanning beds for 48 hours.
